Xie Dong

Vice Mayor of Shanghai

Xie Dong, female, Han ethnicity, was born in February 1971. She is a member of the China National Democratic Construction Association and holds master's degrees in literature and philosophy.

Xie Dong's responsibilities cover the following areas: education; civil, ethnic and religious affairs; sports; intellectual property rights; overseas Chinese affairs; culture and history.

She supervises several municipal government departments, including Commission of Education, Bureau of Civil Affairs (Bureau of Social Organizations), Bureau of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, Administration of Sports, Intellectual Property Administration.

She also maintains communication with the Municipal Disabled Persons' Federation.
