The Consensus points out that the developed countries are facing a hard time in economic recovery and China and other emerging countries are facing a downward pressure on economic growth. Continuous challenges and risks have provided Asia with fresh opportunities. We should gain experience from history and reality and make full use of our unique wisdom and cultural strengths, to overcome all obstacles and difficulties lying ahead and to pursue coexistence and harmonious development despite our differences. It is stated in the Consensus that the core of Asia’s wisdom lies in inclusion in promoting unity and harmony in creating prosperity. We should spare no effort to deepen the regional economic and trade cooperation and advance the regional economic integration, so that the interests and benefits are extended to all the countries and regions, the scientific and technological progresses and economic fruits cover all the people, and sustainable economic and social development is achieved. The Consensus suggests that Asia needs to be more forward-looking in leading technological innovations; more scientific and rational in promoting economic recovery and development; more proactive and prudent in exploring institutional changes; more patient in promoting regional cooperation; and more flexible in promoting regional peace and stability. The Consensus concludes that in facing up to crises sweeping in from the West, Asia is playing an increasingly important role in the world. History proves that if we want to turn Asian dynamics to the real rise ofAsia, Asian countries must be united in seeking consensus from diversity and achieving development in harmony. Asian countries should fully respect the differences between each-other, coordinate their positions and carry out pragmatic cooperation, thus achieving win-win situations in the economic, political, social, cultural and environmental aspects. Asia’s wisdom is the wealth of all the people inAsia. It is the ideological cornerstone of Asian countries to achieve harmonious development in diversity.”
