From Nov. 14 to 15, 2013, the delegation of Fudan University, led by Prof. Zhu Zhiwen, Chancellor of Fudan University, called upon Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies for consultation and discussion of matters concerning the Shanghai Forum. The delegation members included Executive Vice-Secretary-General and Secretariat Office Director of the Forum, Assoc. Prof. Zhang Yi, Director of the Fudan University Foreign Affairs Office, Assoc. Prof. Zhu Chouwen, Assoc. Prof. Xing Liju from the Center for Korean Studies and Director of the Asia Research Centre, Prof. Jin Guangyao.
While in South Korea, the delegation had a cordial meeting with KFAS. The two parties set the theme for the “Shanghai Forum 2014” after consultation. Assoc. Prof. Zhang Yi then gave a brief report on the preparation of next year`s Forum, to which Mr. Park In-kook, President of KFAS nodded his satisfaction.
The delegation also paid a visit to Mr. Kim Jae-Youl, Vice Chairman of the SK Group. As former president of KFAS, Mr. Kim witnessed the inception and development of the Shanghai Forum. Together with the delegation, he looked into the achievements and future prospects of the integration of industry, study and research between Fudan University and SK Group.
At the end of the visit, Chancellor Zhu Zhiwen expressed his expectations of the Forum`s development, hoping that the Shanghai Forum would show more openness and gain stronger influence by serving well as the link between strategies and thoughts, scholars and think-tanks, strategies and technologies, academia and the industry, scholars and the government.
