Temir Sariev

Former Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan

Temir Sariev was born on June 17, 1963 in the village Tosh-Bulak in the Chuy
Province of Kyrgyzstan. In 1989 he graduated from the Kyrgyz National
University with a degree in economics.
In 2000 T. Sariev took his first significant step into politics, with his election
to parliament. He was reelected in 2005 as a representative for the Shopokov
Okrug. On March 26, 2007, T. Sariev was selected as one of nine co-chairs
in the For Reforms movement. On April 10, 2007, T. Sariev announced his
exit from the Social Democratic party of Kyrgyzstan. Simultaneously, he
announced his support for the creation of a Union of Democratic Forces party
«Akshumkar» and his support for parliamentary elections by list. T. Sariev's
bid for president in the 2009 elections ended with him receiving about 6% of
the overall vote.
From April to July 2010 interim president Roza Otunbayeva appointed Temir
Sariev Minister of Finance in the temporary government. From 2010 to 2011
he was Chairman of political party "Akshumkar". On December 24, 2011
held the post of Minister of the Economy and Antimonopoly Policy of the
Kyrgyz Republic.
On May 2, 2015 he was appointed as a Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan. On April
2016, he resigned from the post of Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic.
