Professor Lin Shangli was born in Fuzhou in 1963 and is the Vice President of Fudan University.
He studied at the Department of International Politics at Fudan University from 1981 to 1988 and stayed at Fudan to pursue a teaching career after graduation.He became Associate Professor in 1993 and Professor in 1997 in the department which is now named the School of International Relations and Public Affairs.In 1998 he received a Ph.D. from Fudan University’s School of Law. He has been a visiting scholar at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Keio University in Japan, Georgetown University in the United States and at the University of Munich in Germany. Professor Lin is a member of the Expert Review Panel for Political Science at the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Counciland a member of the National Political Science Education Steering Committee.Since April 2011, Professor Lin has served as Vice President of Fudan University.He was elected a member of the 11th Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in 2008. At present,
Professor Lin serves as an expert for the Shanghai Municipal Policy Consulting Commission and the Shanghai municipal government.
Professor Lin’s research interests include political science theories, Karl Marx's political philosophy and Chinese politics. He has published more than 10 books on politics, including Party Politics and Modernization, Electoral Politics, The Logic of Politics, and Research on Contemporary Chinese Politics. In addition, he has published over 100 articles in various journals and magazines.
