Former Minister of Economy and Finance, Italy

Fabrizio Saccomanni was Minister of Economy and Finance in the government of Italy headed by Mr. Enrico Letta (from April 2013 to February 2014). He previously held the positions of Member of the Directorate (Governing Board) and Senior Deputy Governor (Director General) of the Bank of Italy (October 2006 - April 2013); President and member of the Governing Board of the Insurance Supervisory Authority of Italy (IVASS) from January 2013-April 2013; member of the Board of Directors of the Bank for International Settlements (2006-2013); an alternate to the Governor of the Bank of Italy in the Governing Council of the European Central Bank (2006-2013); Vice President for Risk Management of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (from February 2003 to September 2006); Vice President of the IAI (Institute of International Affairs) of Italy; and member of the Società Italiana degli Economisti.

He is currently a visiting professor at the European Institute of the London School of Economics (LSE) and Senior Fellow at the LUISS School of European Political Economy. He is also the author of many articles and essays.
