Chancellor, Fudan University Chair, Shanghai Forum Organizing Committee
Mr. Zhu Zhiwen is the Chancellor of Fudan University. He was born in 1958 in Fujian Province, China, and graduated from the Department of Economics, Xiamen University.
After graduation, Chancellor Zhu served consecutively as Vice Chairman of the Youth League, then as Vice Chairman and later Chairman of the Department Council of International Economics and Trade at Xiamen University. In 1989, he was appointed Director of Xiamen University’s General Office for CPC Affairs, after which he assumed the position of Assistant to the President of Xiamen University for two years from 1991 to 1993. In 1993, he was appointed Vice President of Xiamen University, a position he stayed in until 2000. Chancellor Zhu was transferred to work in the government of Fujian Province in March 2000. Here he was appointed to serve as Secretary of the Education Working Committee of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, Director General of the Department of Education, and Secretary of the Department’s CPC committee. In June 2005, Chancellor Zhu was appointed Secretary of the Ningde Municipal CPC Committee. A year and a half later, he was transferred back to Xiamen University, serving as Chairman of Xiamen University Council. In September 2011, Chancellor Zhu was appointed Chancellor of Fudan University.
