Tu Guangshao

Executive Vice Mayor of Shanghai

Tu Guangshao, Han Chinese, was born in January 1959 in Ezhou, Hubei Province. He obtained his Master’s degree in Economics at Peking University and holds the title of senior economist. He is now a member of the Standing
Committee of the Communist Party of China Shanghai Committee and executive vice mayor of Shanghai, in charge of fiscal affairs, taxation, financial development, supervision, foreign affairs, Hong Kong and Macao affairs and
management of legislative bills. He also assists in auditing affairs.

Tu started working in August 1977. From 1985 to 1989, he was a researcher in the policy research office of the CPC Beijing Committee, deputy division director of the Committee’s commerce and trade affairs department. From 1989 to1991, he was transferred to the planning department and the financial management department of the People’s Bank of China (PBOC). From 1991 to 1997, he was the deputy director of the National Financial Market’s Quotation and Trading Information System Center of PBOC, board member and deputy general manager of the China Securities Trading System Corp, director general of the trading department and later secretary-general of China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC). From Aug 1997 to Jun 2002, he was the general manager and Party secretary of the Shanghai Stock
Exchange. From Jul 2002 to Dec 2007, he was the vice chairman and member of the CPC Committee of CSRC. From Dec 2007 to Jan 2013, he was the vice mayor of Shanghai and member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanghai Committee. Since Feb 2013, he has served as the executive vice mayor of Shanghai and a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanghai Committee.
