Paula Lehtomaki

Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers

Ms Paula Lehtomäki (born 1972) has been the Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers since March 2019. From July 2015, she held the position of State Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office of Finland. Lehtomäki was a Member of Parliament representing the Centre Party of Finland from 1999 to  2015 and served as the vice-chairman of Keskusta (Centre Party of Finland) from 2002 to 2010. She has been a member of the Finnish Government, serving as Minister of the Environment between 2007 and 2011 and Minister for Foreign Trade and Development between 2003 and 2007. Ms Lehtomäki has held a number of positions of trust, including the Chair of the Board of the Finland Russia Society in 2014-2015. Lehtomäki has been awarded the Commander of the Order of the White Rose of Finland. Lehtomäki holds a BSc in Political Science and a MSc in Economics.
