Prof. Shang-Jin Wei is a Visiting Professor at Fanhai International School of Finance (FISF), and Professor of Finance and Economics at Columbia University. He was a recipient of the Contemporary Economics Prize, the Sun Yefang Prize in Economics, the Zhang Peigang Prize in Development Economics Research, Pushan Prize for Excellence in Research on the World Economy, and the Ann Tse Kai (An Zijian) Research Prize on International Trade.
He previously held the positions of Chief Economist of Asian Development Bank (ADB), Associate Professor of Public Policy at Harvard University, Assistant Director and Chief of Trade and Investment Division at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and Advisor at the World Bank(WB). Currently he also served as the Director of Working Group on the Chinese Economy, and Research Associate at National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), and Non-resident Fellow at the Brookings Institution.
Prof. Wei’s research has been published in top academic journals including Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, etc.
Many of Prof. Wei's published research papers are with high citation rates. The global economist ranking released by RePEc (Research Papers in Economics), a globally renowned economics research database, has shown that Prof. Wei ranks first among Chinese economists worldwide.
